Our Story...Meadows Advocacy began from a simple belief:
every worker deserves fairness, dignity, and honest treatment. After more than a decade working on the ground in the transport and aggregates sector, founder Steve Meadows saw first-hand how confusing and stressful employment disputes can be — especially when people don’t have someone in their corner. What started as helping workmates understand their rights has grown into a professional advocacy service that supports employees and small businesses across Aotearoa New Zealand. Meadows Advocacy exists to make the process clearer, calmer, and more human. |

Advocacy is an unregulated space — and that’s exactly why standards matter.
Recent commentary has highlighted that employment advocacy in New Zealand is not formally regulated. That’s true. But unregulated does not have to mean unprofessional. That’s why I’ve chosen to align my practice with Employment Law Institute of New Zealand (ELINZ) — a professional body that promotes ethical practice, competence, and accountability within employment relations. ELINZ membership isn’t automatic. It’s a voluntary commitment to: professional conduct ongoing learning ethical advocacy acting in good faith with clients, employers, and institutions In a space without a statutory regulator, choosing a governing framework matters. For me, this isn’t about titles or optics — it’s about doing the work properly, transparently, and with integrity. People first. Always. — Steve Meadows Advocacy |
